Proven infant protection performance
The Hugs® system offers proven protection against infant abduction. Using advanced wireless radio frequency technology, the system is highly reliable and easy to use.
Here’s how it works.
Every infant wears a small Hugs tag on the ankle that is automatically enrolled in the system the moment it is attached.
The facility has a designated “safe area,” usually the OB department, where babies are normally located. All exits from the safe area are protected by door monitors, and a network of receivers picks up messages from the tags.
Multiple layers of protection
The Hugs system protects infants on three levels:
Exit protection -
Bringing an infant near an open exit causes an alarm in the software identifying the infant and exact location.
Tamper protection -
Any attempt to detach or cut the tag strap immediately results in an alarm in the software.
Supervision protection - The tag sends out a Heartbeat™ signal every ten seconds. If these messages are not seen by the system for a certain time, an alarm is generated.
Care-centered software
The Hugs software gives nurses and other staff the essential information they need to do their jobs. A customizable “whiteboard” shows at a glance all the infants in the system, and everyday tasks are easily completed by clicking on one of the large task icons, and then following the on-screen instructions.
